Turkey: COBENEFITS council meeting

Around 20 distinguished participants representing five ministries (six different departments) with stakes in the Turkish energy transition discussed the direction of the second phase of the COBENEFITS Project in the COBENEFITS Council Turkey, on the 17.11.20.

Participants welcomed the results of the project’s first phase presented by the project team. Subsequently participants shared their respective ministries views on the current status of the energy transition, challenges ahead and need for further research to back up political decision making. Further endeavours for localization of technology development and manufacturing of renewable equipment was one of the emphasized topics. But also possible resilience effects for the economy and the flexibility options to integrate a high share of RE were discussed. In addition, certain subjects, such as the Co-Benefits connected to the current deficit and impacts of the EU Green Deal on industry and electrification of transport are underlined. The project team will develop a research plan from the suggestions and publish a call for tender for realizing those assessments at a later stage of the project
